Consider utilizing free and open educational materials and tools when feasible. Several studies such as this one have shown that using free and open textbooks can increase student success and equity in courses. See these resources:

Information to Include When Using Publisher Materials & Tools

Any time you are using publisher materials or any technologies or tools, please consider including this information in your course:

  • Tutorials and videos for students on how to register and access and use the publisher materials and tools.
  • Information on how students can get support from the publisher/vendor if they run into issues.
  • Accessibility information (google the name of the publisher + accessibility or VPAT)
  • Privacy information/policy – what student data is being collected and how is it being used?
  • System requirements – minimum computer requirements, browser, internet connection, platform, mobile compatibility, etc.
