Email FPDS at cittfacdev@hccfl.edu or call 813-253-7024. The FPDS Sharepoint site has information about events, staff, and resources for faculty related to teaching and technology.

FPDS Purpose

The Center for Innovative Teaching and Technology’s (CITT) Faculty Professional Development Services (FPDS) provides an environment that fosters the development and delivery of engaging, innovative instruction and technologies promoting successful student learning opportunities.

FPDS Goals

Under the leadership of the Vice President of Academic Affairs, and managed by the Director of Professional Development, the Center for Innovative Teaching and Technology FPDS is charged to support the institutional mission by performing the following functions:

  • Provide and coordinate instructional design services, in-service activities, and training opportunities for faculty to gain skills and knowledge in support of student success
  • Develop, research, and maintain instructional resources and best practices to be used across the wide array of college curricula
  • Encourage and support the integration of instructional technologies used in various delivery methods at the college
  • Support and coordinate teaching and learning events and experiences related to all course modalities.
  • Provide customized pathways of professional development to meet specified faculty goals

FPDS Events

There are four major faculty professional development events each year:

  • August – Fall Full-time In-service and (separately) Adjunct Faculty In-service
  • October – FPD Day (faculty professional development)
  • January – Spring Full-time Faculty In-service
  • March – All College Day

You’ll receive emails with more information about these events, including opportunities to present your own workshops and sessions. Many of the sessions offer FPD (faculty professional development) credit hours. The fall and spring in-service general sessions are required for all full-time faculty, and the fall adjunct in-service general session is required for all adjunct faculty.

FPDS Training

You’ll receive FPD credit hours for participating in training courses and workshops. Full-time faculty are required to obtain at least 20 FPD hours a year, and adjunct faculty 10 hours.

  • Self-paced Training: See Bridge for a listing of all our self-paced training courses available, on topics such as online teaching, assessment, and AI.
  • Live Training: Access our Bridge professional development calendar to review all current live training sessions available. Note that “live training” may be in person or remote access via Microsoft Teams.
  • LinkedIn Learning: To access LinkedIn Learning courses through your HCC account, visit MyHCC and click on Training & Learning on the left sidebar and then LinkedIn Learning. This will sign you into the site. A personal LinkedIn Learning account is not required and does not need to be connected to your HCC account. Enroll in the LinkedIn Learning training course in Bridge for more details or contact cittfacdev@hccfl.edu.

NOTE: In Summer 2025, Bridge is being replaced by Workday Learning. LinkedIn Learning courses are already accessible via Workday Learning.

FPDS Initiatives

  • Internal Course Review (ICR): ICR is an initiative to help individual instructors teaching online courses to meet HCC’s Online Course Quality Standards, as part of HCC’s HQ 2025 Initiative. An alternative pathway facilitated by the Dept. of Online Learning is Standard Courses (formerly known as Exemplary Courses), in which faculty work in teams to develop template courses.
  • FPD Committee (faculty professional development): This committee meets to discuss matters relating to faculty professional development.
  • FPDS also assists with committees and initiatives on accessibility, open education, and other topics.
