Welcome to CHM 1025L \u2014 Introductory Chemistry Laboratory!
I'm excited to have you here as we begin our journey into the fascinating world of chemistry, not just through reading and theory, but hands-on exploration and real-world practice.<\/p>\r\n
This lab is designed to help you build strong foundational skills \u2014 from safely handling chemicals and using lab equipment, to making accurate measurements, analyzing chemical reactions, and applying scientific methods. Whether this is your very first chemistry lab or you've had a little experience before, you\u2019ll find that everything we do here will connect directly to the real world around you.<\/p>\r\n
Throughout the semester, you will:<\/p>\r\n\r\n
Practice essential laboratory techniques like filtration, pipetting, measuring, and safe Bunsen burner use.<\/p>\r\n<\/li>\r\n \t
Record and interpret precise experimental data.<\/p>\r\n<\/li>\r\n \t
Explore chemical and physical properties through exciting hands-on experiments.<\/p>\r\n<\/li>\r\n \t

Safety First!
We will begin by mastering laboratory safety rules \u2014 they are absolutely essential for your success and protection.<\/p>\r\n<\/li>\r\n \t
Teamwork and Independence:
You'll sometimes work in pairs, but you\u2019ll also develop the ability to complete lab tasks independently \u2014 an important skill for any scientist.<\/p>\r\n<\/li>\r\n \t
Hands-on Practice:
Expect to actively engage \u2014 you\u2019ll be measuring, mixing, observing, and analyzing during nearly every class session.<\/p>\r\n<\/li>\r\n \t
Connection to CHM 1025 Lecture:
Many concepts from your lecture course will come alive right here in the lab, deepening your understanding and helping you succeed in both!<\/p>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n
Come prepared to each lab: read the experiment ahead of time and bring required materials (lab manual, notebook, goggles, etc.).<\/p>\r\n<\/li>\r\n \t
Be on time \u2014 safety briefings and instructions happen right at the start of each session.<\/p>\r\n<\/li>\r\n \t
Ask questions!
There\u2019s no such thing as a \"bad\" chemistry question here. Curiosity is encouraged and supported.<\/p>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n
