During Lab Time

When you arrive for lab, you will be expected:

  • Dressed properly – including closed toe shoes, long pants, & lab coat.
  • Pre-laboratory assignment complete & uploaded to Canvas

IMPORTANT: You will not be able to stay for lab, if any of the above expectations are not met.

During experimentation:

  • At the beginning of each lab, I will provide a summary of lab expectations and any changes you need to be aware of. Ask questions if anything is unclear – no question is too small!
  • Use your lab notebook to record all observations and data in real time. This includes colors, temperatures, measurements, reactions, and any unexpected results. Do not erase—just cross out mistakes with a single line. Label all tables and drawings clearly and always include units.

  • Perform all required calculations inside your lab notebook. The more work you show the better.

  • Be sure to make a note of any potential errors affecting your data.
