Unit 4: Human Security, Robots, and Aliens

You might think we’re diving into robots and aliens, but spoiler alert—it’s really all about humans! Using stories about robots and aliens can actually help you better understand the big issue of human security. These films often show futuristic or otherworldly conflicts, but at the core, they highlight human rights, global governance, and the challenges we face in protecting people across borders. Whether it’s a robot uprising or an alien invasion, these exaggerated scenarios reflect real-world issues like international law, human rights, and how nations and organizations work together (or don’t) to ensure safety and security for everyone. So, while we’re talking about sci-fi, we’re really exploring what it means to be human and how to tackle the problems we face globally. Plus, who doesn’t love learning about robots and aliens along the way?
